Event Details

Jennifer Green, University Archivist at the University of Southern Indiana, leads a conversation about a family collection of military company badges. The badges come from members of the armed forces all over the county and the United Kingdom. These badges aren’t strictly government issue – each one was designed by the members of the particular company. Ms. Beulah Grey, a distant relative of Ms. Greene, corresponded with a great many troops as a wartime penpal. She started writing to friends and others from her hometown, and shortly thereafter received penpal requests from other troops. Often those she corresponded with would reply with a sample of their self-designed company badge. She kept all of these creative and fun designs which Jennifer Greene will present and discuss at Evansville Wartime Museum on April 27 at 10:30 a.m. Included with regular admission. Free for EWM annual members.
