Evansville P-47 Foundation in Conjunction with the Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union Announces the 2022 Hoosier Spirit II Donation Certificate Campaign
During WWII, our families purchased $125 million dollars in War Bonds in the Evansville area to create the military supplies needed to bring our soldiers home. That is over $2 billion dollars in today’s economy. Evansville area residents now have the opportunity to purchase Hoosier Spirit II Donation Certificates to keep our WWII history alive both now and for our children. Hoosier Spirit II, Indiana’s Official State Aircraft, represents a piece of history to the tri-state as it embodies the first P-47 built in 1942 called Hoosier Spirit and one of the last of the 6,242 P-47s built in Evansville, Hoosier Spirit II.
The tri-state has been generous in their donations and pledges to keep Hoosier Spirit II in Evansville, but we still need your support to fund the $1.5 million still owed for this plane as well as ongoing maintenance costs. You have an opportunity to help keep this piece of history in Evansville by purchasing Hoosier Spirit II Donation Certificates at your local Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union branch.
Hoosier Spirit II Donation Certifications can be purchased in $100, $250, $500, $750 or $1,000 denominations. Purchase your Hoosier Spirit II certification at any ETFCU location or by calling (800) 800-9271 today. Checks should be made out to ETFCU with “P-47 Campaign Donation” in the memo section. With your paid donation, you will receive a numbered 8” x 10” parchment certificate with a gold embossed P-47 Foundation Seal and signed by the chairman of the Foundation, Rick Kaskel, that will become a family heirloom. Learn more by visiting https://etfcu.org/p47/. Hoosier Spirit II can be seen at the Evansville Wartime Museum (7503 Petersburg Road at Airport) on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
